How to use fiber fusion splicer and steps

1. Strip the optical cable and fix it on the fiber rack. Common optical cables include layer-stranded, skeleton-type and central tube-type optical cables. Different optical cables require different stripping methods. After stripping, Fix the fiber optic cable to the fiber rack.

2. Fiber splitting Pass the optical fiber through the heat shrink tube, separate the optical fibers of different bundles and colors, and pass them through the heat shrink tube. After the welding is completed, the heat shrink tube can be used to protect the optical fiber fusion joint.

3. Turn on the power of the fusion splicer and select the appropriate welding method.

The power supply of the fusion splicer is AC and DC. It should be switched appropriately according to the type of power supply.

We know that the optical fibers used by DBTV include conventional single-mode optical fibers and dispersion-shifted single-mode optical fibers. There are also two operating wavelengths: 1310nm and 1550nm, so we have to choose based on the optical fiber and operating wavelength used by the system. Proper welding method.

4. Prepare the fiber end face. The quality of the fiber end face will directly affect the splicing quality, so before the fusion machine, a qualified end face must be made first.

Use a special stripping tool to peel off the coating layer, then wipe the bare fiber with special alcohol-based cleaning linen or cotton several times, and use a precision fiber cutting knife to cut the optical fiber. Layer) optical fiber, the cutting length is 8mm-16mm. For 0.9mm (outer coating) optical fiber, the cutting length can only be 16mm.

5. Place the optical fiber in the V-shaped groove of the fusion splicer, carefully press the optical fiber press plate and the optical fiber clamp. Set the position of the optical fiber in the press plate according to the fiber cutting length, and place it correctly. into the hood.

6. Connect the optical fiber. After pressing Continue, the optical fibers will move towards each other. During the movement, a short discharge will be generated to clean the optical fiber surface. When the gap between the optical fiber end faces is appropriate, the fusion splicer will stop moving towards each other. , set the initial gap, the welding machine measures it, and displays the cutting angle.

After the initial gap setting is completed, core or cladding alignment is performed, then the fusion splicer reduces the gap (final gap setting), and the arc generated by the high-voltage discharge fuses the left fiber to the right In optical fiber, the microprocessor finally calculates the loss and displays the value on the display. If the estimated loss value is higher than expected, it can be discharged again. After discharge, the fusion splicer will still calculate the loss.

7. Remove the fiber and reinforce it with a heater.

Open the windshield and the fusion splicer will store dissolution data at the same time.

Including: splicing mode, data, estimated loss, etc.

Take out the optical fiber from the fusion splicer, place the heat shrink tube in the center of the bare fiber, heat it in the heater, and then remove the optical fiber from the heater.

During operation, do not touch the heat shrink tube and the ceramic part of the heater due to the high temperature.

8. Coil the fiber and fix it.

Put the spliced optical fiber tray onto the optical fiber storage tray, fix the optical fiber, storage tray, junction box, terminal box, etc., and the optical fiber splicing is completed.
