Quantum communications could take place in the ocean

Recently, Jin Xianmin’s team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University successfully conducted the first seawater quantum communication experiment and observed that photon polarization quantum states and quantum entanglement can maintain quantum properties in seawater. It was the first time in the world to experimentally verify underwater quantum communication. The feasibility of this project is an important step towards establishing an underwater and air-sea integrated quantum communication network in the future.

The results were published in the latest issue of Optics Express and listed as an editor's recommendation.
